Planning ahead is a gift to the people you love

When wishes aren't written down, a family is left making dozens of decisions in the hardest week of their lives. This workshop walks you through what to decide, what it costs in Greater Victoria, and how to put it in place. Bring your questions. We'll answer them.

What you'll learn

1

Record Vital Statistics

The details your family and the government will need: full legal name, parents' names, place of birth and more. We show you what to gather so nobody has to search for it later.

2

Learn the various Choices

Burial, cremation, green burial, a service or a Celebration of Life. What each involves, what it costs in Greater Victoria today, and what BC regulations require.

3

Payment Options

To guarantee the costs against future inflation, services can be prepaid all at once or over 3, 5, or 10 years. You can also choose to leave your wishes with us without prepaying.

Who it's for

Anyone in Greater Victoria who would like their wishes settled, whether you're ready to decide or just starting to think about it.

Retired or nearing retirement
Adult children planning with parents
Recently widowed
Those who've arranged a funeral before

Before you register

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no cost and no obligation. You can simply listen and take notes.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. The workshop is on Zoom. After you register we email you a link. At the start time, click it on your computer, tablet or phone and you are in. If you get stuck, call us at 250-385-4465.

What if I can't make it live?

Register anyway. We will email you the replay so you can watch when it suits you.

How do I get the My Wishes planning guide?

We email it to you after the workshop. It gives you one place to write down your wishes and the details your family will need.

Will someone try to sell me something?

No. This is an educational session. If you would like to talk about your own plans afterwards, MarLisa is happy to help, but that is entirely up to you.

Can my spouse or adult children watch with me?

Please do. Many people find it easier to have this conversation together.

Is this for people outside Victoria?

The workshop is built for Greater Victoria and the surrounding area, including local costs and BC rules.
